Money is available for non-profits hosting an event.

If you belong to a local organization planning to host a not-for-profit conference, meeting, sports tournament or other special events, money may be available under the City of North Bay’s Event Hosting Program.

The program, which supports community groups by providing funding to help offset event-hosting costs, is accepting applications until March 30.

A total of $50,000 is available this year to help support events that result in a significant community impact and present the opportunity to showcase and promote North Bay says a news release.

“This program is designed to give a helping hand to a wide variety of community events, whether its arts and culture or sports and entertainment," said Coun. Johanne Brousseau, Chair of Council’s Community Services Committee. “We want to encourage these kinds of events because they bring people together and help to highlight our City.”

Applications will be evaluated and scored by a review committee, consisting of representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and the City’s Economic Development and Community Development and Growth departments. A scoring system will be used to determine the impact of the event on the community and help guide the Committee in determining the funding status of each application.

Applications received after the March 30 deadline will only be considered if there are remaining program funds.
