Cardinal TV series filmed in the Bay wins Canadian Screen Awards

The Cardinal tv series, which has been filmed in North Bay, was recognized Sunday at the Canadian Screen Awards.   

Season three of the TV drama came away with seven total awards.  

Actor Billy Campbell won Best Actor in a Drama Program in a Limited Series. 

Actor Jerry O'Connell, was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Carter which was also shot in North Bay.   

Cardinal's Karine Vanasse won the Best Actress award.   

During his acceptance speech, a choked up Campbell, who grew up in Virginia,  thanked Vanasse along with the local cast and crews in North Bay.

"I'm a Yank and I'm particularly grateful for Canada being Canada these days," he said.

Earlier in the week, the show took home five awards including Best Limited Series or Program.

Season four of the award-winning series is currently being filmed in North Bay.
