Capitol Centre finishes with surplus

The Capitol Centre heard good news at its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday night. The Capitol Centre reported a surplus of $7,823 based on a $1.7 million dollar budget with $12,700 transferred to special projects.

The Capitol Centre reported a surplus of $7,823 based on a $1.7 million dollar budget with $12,700 transferred to special projects.The Centre is a not for profit organization whose mandate is to provide diverse programming in both performing and visual arts for the community.

In a news release, the Centre’s General Manager, Dee Adrian said “The level of activity that is managed by so few on a minimal budget is absolutely amazing and we can’t say enough good things about everyone who has contributed.”

During 2014, 40,846 tickets were sold, generating revenue of $958,524 with about 25% sold online.

There were 20 Capitol Centre presents performance days; 21 commercial rental days; 13 North Bay Symphony Performances and/or meeting days; 19 special event days including corporate receptions; 10 plus Gallery exhibits in Galleries I & II plus workshops for adults; 35 community rental days; including Dreamcoat and TOROS and other not for profit events; 21 Sunday Cinema shows as well as 17 free Saturday matinees to address their mandate of ensuring there is something for everyone.

Capitol Centre Board President, Blake Beam was pleased with the past year.

“It was a very busy year at the Capitol Centre.  Our season usually winds down in late spring.  But with the addition of the On The Edge Fringe Festival and returning events such as Canadore College’s Rep 21 performances, TOROS, and our summer theatre camps, our season now extends right through the summer.  We’ve truly become your year round home for arts, entertainment & culture.”.
