Canadore College will be accepting students into four new programs developed in response to industry needs.

“We are extremely pleased to receive funding notification from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) for these much-needed programs in the fields of aviation and the environment,” said Dr. Marguerite Donohue, Vice-President, Academic at Canadore College.

“These new learning opportunities will help students to round out and enhance their qualifications and experience.”

Aviation Fundamentals Ontario College Certificate (September 2015)

This one year certificate is designed to assist students gain the knowledge, training and prerequisites needed to further studies in aviation-related diploma programs.

The focus is placed on developing and improving integral mathematical, science and technical skills.

Graduates will have a solid understanding of the foundations of aviation to support greater success in more advanced aviation programs.

Aviation Technology – Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics Ontario College Advanced Diploma (September 2014)

This advanced diploma is designed to meet the growing demand for qualified workers in the aerospace industry.

In addition to expertise in aircraft maintenance, students will receive specialized training in avionics, communications and navigation systems and an advanced understanding of the avionics/airframe interface.

Graduates will obtain an additional six months of experience credit for a total of 24 months of Transport Canada accreditation.

Aviation Technology – Aircraft Maintenance and Structures Ontario College Advanced Diploma (September 2014)

The first program of its kind at a Canadian college, this program will allow students to gain more hands-on experience, enhance skill sets and become better-rounded workers for employment in the aviation marketplace.

In addition to expertise in aircraft maintenance, students will receive intensive structural repair and fabrication training and an additional six months of experience for a total of 24 months of Transport Canada accreditation.

Environmental Geomatics Ontario College Graduate Certificate (September 2015)

The first program of its kind in Ontario, will teach students sought-after skills in techniques for the environmental sector such as applied geomatics, geographic information systems (GIS), geo-spatial statistics and resource management.

Graduates will be proficient in theory and laboratory skills and will have completed an industry work placement.
