According to the provincial Key Performance Indicator (KPI) survey results released today, Canadore College is above the provincial system’s average in six unique areas and boasts the highest graduation rate of all English language colleges.

“This year’s extraordinarily positive results are a testament to the commitment our entire Canadore team pours into our students’ achievements,” said Canadore President George Burton.

“We are dedicated to making sure our students succeed in the classroom, and making sure that our graduates have the skills they need to be effective in today’s marketplace.”

Overall, Canadore exceeds the provincial average in graduate satisfaction rate, employer satisfaction rate and graduate employment rate.

In comparison to its peer colleges, Canadore’s students feel more confident that their program is giving them the knowledge and skills they need to be useful in their future career, are more assured by the overall quality of the learning experiences in their program and express greater satisfaction in the overall quality of the services at the college.

  • 82.2 per cent of Canadore College graduates are very satisfied/satisfied (80.1 provincial average)
  • 93.5 per cent of employers hiring Canadore College graduates are very satisfied/satisfied (92.2 provincial average)
  • 86.8 per cent of Canadore College graduates secure employment in their field within six months of graduation (83.4 provincial average)
  • 88.5 per cent of Canadore College students rate their program as giving them the knowledge and skills that will be useful in their future career (87.2 provincial average)
  • 81.9 per cent of Canadore College students highly rate the overall quality of learning experience in their program (80.0 provincial average)
  • 65.1 per cent of Canadore College students highly rate the overall quality of the services in the college (64.2 provincial average)

“As the value of a college education becomes more understood, the college system is seeing more enrolment with every year that passes,” said Burton.

“At this pivotal time, we need government to allow colleges to expand the range of degree programs that we can deliver to address our economy’s challenging unemployment and underemployment issues.”

Currently, some colleges offer four-year degree programs but must award diplomas to graduates of the three-year programs.

This is despite the fact that many three-year programs at Ontario’s colleges are already aligned with the baccalaureate standards in Ontario and worldwide.

“Faculty and staff at Canadore are committed to providing a positive learning environment to prepare our students to be strong employees upon graduation,” said Dr. Marguerite Donohue, Vice-President, Academic.

“It is heartening to see the vast majority of students and graduates respond so positively about their learning experience.”

Since 1998, the provincial KPIs have been gathered annually by two independent research firms for the colleges and for the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The most recent data were collected from March 2013 to February 2014.

“The entire Canadore team really buckled down a few years ago to deliver an exceptional college experience for our students… a personalized experience,” said Shawn Chorney, Vice-President of Enrolment Management, Student Services, Marketing and Recruiting.

“These results demonstrate that we are on the right track to serving those that matter – our students, our graduates and our employers.”
