On January 28, the 2008 Canadore College School of Business Co-operative Education Employer Appreciation Luncheon acknowledged private and public sector partners of Canadore's Co-op Business programs.

Canadore's Co-op Business programs are highly successful and there is a vast list of quality employers that hire students during their work/school term.

During the luncheon, Canadore College President Barbara Taylor presented David Lee, the School of Business's Co-op Nominee, with the (CAFCE) Canadian Association for Co-operative Education Co-op Student of the Year Award. The CAFCE award recognizes a wide variety of achievements that include job performance, academic performance and contributions to their employer, to co-operative education, and the community at large.

"Co-operative education is a fantastic opportunity for employers, students and the College to work together to develop skilled, educated and experienced workers for the future. Students take their newly acquired skills into the work place where they exchange their knowledge and enthusiasm for an opportunity to practice what they have learned while earning a wage," said David Thompson, Co-op Program Advisor.

Mayor Victor Fedeli was present at the event along with representatives from the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce, Muskoka Nipissing Parry Sound Local Training and Adjustment Board and the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.

The School of Business Co-operative Education programs run throughout the year. The Co-op Business programs are an important tool in addressing Northern Ontario's youth retention and job succession planning.
