Canadore College ******************** Canadore may have five new programs to offer students in the new year. At its final meeting of the year, Canadore's Board of Governors passed motions to propose five new programs to begin in the 2011 Fall term.

At its final meeting of the year, Canadore's Board of Governors passed motions to propose five new programs to begin in the 2011 Fall term.
"Canadore is dedicated to being proactive and responsive to the needs of regional businesses and industries. To this end, we are continually evaluating our program offerings," said George Burton, President of Canadore College. "We are excited to be proposing innovative and flexible new programs based on the feedback and support we have received by our community partners."
The new proposed programs include:
Civil Engineering Technician Ontario College Diploma
This diploma is designed to provide learners with the education they require to provide technical support and services to scientists, engineers and other professionals. Graduates may work independently in fields such as structural engineering, municipal engineering, construction design and supervision, highways and transportation engineering, water resources engineering, geotechnical engineering and environmental protection.
Diabetes Education Certificate Ontario College Graduate Certificate
This certificate offers a firm foundation in current clinical approaches towards diabetes education, treatment and management. It is designed for registered nurses (RN), registered practical nurses (RPN), registered dieticians (RD), chiropodists, and pharmacists who wish to specialize in the field of diabetes education. This program will be delivered exclusively online through the OntarioLearn.com delivery platform.
Mobile Applications Ontario College Graduate Certificate
This unique and exciting program includes a collection of courses that will provide learners with specific content, skill and knowledge to develop mobile applications for the emerging technological industry focused on small handheld devices such as personal digital assistants, tablets and mobile phones.
Financial Services Ontario College Graduate Certificate
This program is intended to provide students with the skills and knowledge they require to pursue a career within the broader financial services industry, the largest industry in Canada. Learners will be exposed to the key personal financial areas such as the impact of income tax laws on personal financial planning, estate and retirement planning, personal financial management.
Rural Recreation Certificate
This certificate addressed the increasing need for trained professionals to plan, organize, and supervise community-based recreation activities and programs in rural and remote areas.
Students will graduate with entry-level skills to manage recreation facilities and deliver recreation and leisure services that best serve the needs of people residing in smaller communities. This program will be available to students via Contact North, a distance education delivery platform.

The Board of Governors and President Burton both look forward to an evolutionary process of change and transition for 2011 that focuses on providing students, partners, and community members with a positive Canadore Experience.
