Canadian Tire is local 'Business of the Year'

'Considering what the business community has endured over the last two years, shining a spotlight on the nominees, winners, and all businesses in our district was well deserved'

The Canadian Tire store in North Bay is the City's "Business of the Year 2021."

Awards were given out at the in-person Bell Evening of Excellence event last night at The Grande Event Centre.

“This Evening of Excellence was extra special as we were able to celebrate the businesses and individuals who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and success,” said Peter Chirico, President of the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce.

“Considering what the business community has endured over the last two years, shining a spotlight on the nominees, winners, and all businesses in our district was well deserved.”

The winners are:

New Business of the Year One Red Maple helps small independents to compete globally with large online retailers by offering local online shopping options to those customers shopping online. 

Not-for-Profit of the Year – NECO Community Futures Development Corporation which supplies small business loans and community project funding.

Young Professional of the Year – Kennedy Horton

Small Business of the Year (1-5 employees) – Adoro Olive Oils & Vinegars

Small Business of the Year (6-15 employees) – Cooper Equipment Rentals

Business of the Year Canadian Tire North Bay

The Chamber also presented the annual Betty Alcorn Memorial Award for director of the year to Kayode Olabisi.

“This award is presented annually to a director of the board who best exemplified dedication and diligence to the board,” said Rebecca McGlynn, Chair of the NBDCC Board. “Kayode has been a great addition to the Chamber Board and we look forward to his future contributions."
