Paul Lamont, Dealer of the local Canadian Tire store was recently honoured with the prestigious Canadian Tire Community Involvement Award at the company's annual convention in Toronto. Four other Dealers received the Canadian Tire Award of Excellence at the Gala evening on April 2, which was attended by Canadian Tire's 482 Dealers from across the country.

Each year, the organization honours one dealer with the Community Involvement Award which recognizes exemplary standards of performance and leadership, in addition to generously giving back to the community and supporting programs that improve the quality of life of local residents. As part of the award, Paul also received a cheque for $10,000 to direct as he sees fit and continue making a difference in his community.

"I am very humbled by this honour which would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of my entire store staff. We are proud to be a part of the North Bay community and want to do everything we can for local residents, who are more like family to us,” says Paul.

"It is the passion and commitment of our Dealers that makes Canadian Tire the most valued and trusted brand in the country today,” says Peter Kilty, Senior Vice President, Canadian Tire Dealer Relations. "Every day, Dealers like Paul ensure that Canadian Tire is not just a store, but the hub of their community and an integral part of the jobs and joys of Canadians. He truly embodies the values and spirit of the Canadian Tire brand and we thank him for that."

In 2003, Paul was honoured with the Canadian Tire Award of Excellence and, in 1999, he received the organization’s “Heavy Lifter” Award. Having won the Canadian Tire Community Involvement Award this year, Paul is the only Canadian Tire Dealer to have won all three prestigious awards that recognize exemplary performance and achievements of the company’s Dealers.

Paul is currently managing his fourth Canadian Tire store. His customers are at the centre of everything he does and an important part of that is enabling the community he lives and works in. Be it healthcare, education or sport, Paul’s commitment and enthusiasm to always lend a helping hand makes a huge difference to the community. The wing at the new North Bay General Hospital, named after Canadian Tire, gives testimony to the significant role he played in building the hospital. Paul has also been running a Canadian Tire Junior Citizenship program, which is unique to North Bay and in its tenth year. As part of this program, every week, Paul selects the students of one class in his community, who have done significant volunteer work, to win a free pizza lunch for the entire school.
