The North Bay Police have charged a 20 yr old Callander woman with Fraud under $5000 after she was found fraudulently canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society in the Lakeshore Drive area.

The woman produced a booklet during her pitch that had the Cancer Society’s name on it but any relevant information was illegible because of an ink stain. She has black hair and was wearing glasses and a black jacket with white strips.

Anyone who has recently donated and notices a similarity with this incident is asked to contact your local police agency.

The North Bay Police are cautioning the public about fraudulent canvassers and people are reminded that most legitimate canvassers for charity organizations have been issued an ID card or will have enough information that you can confirm their identity. If you are still in doubt contact your local police.

Csts Erin Pemberton and Stacy Jackson are investigating.
