Callander set for a big birthday party Jan 1st ... you're invited

Callander’s 125th Celebration Committee invites you to join them at their Opening Celebrations January 1st at the Bill Barber Complex/Yarlasky Park.

The festivities will run from 7 to 9 pm., beginning with a few words from special dignitaries there will be cake, hot chocolate, fireworks followed by a family skate.

“This evening of fireworks and skating will be the start of a year of events in Callander” states Chairman, Tom Fletcher. “Each month there will be a variety of activities for every group range. Our focus is on family times, as most of the events throughout the year will be free for all to attend!

Events range from “Old Fashioned Tea’s”, “Talent Contests”, “Wrestling Competitions”, to “Ecumenical Services” even a “World Record Breaking Event” and more! Funding for the events throughout the year will come from a variety of sources, local businesses, private donations, calendar sales and a Municipally run Mayor’s Gala event that will be held in February.

As part of the celebration of the heritage of Callander from 1886 – 2011 a commemorative calendar has been produced and is available for purchase for only $10. Calendars will be available at the Opening Celebrations and are currently being sold at the Royal Bank, the Callander Municipal Office, the Callander Library and other retail outlets in Callander. All funds from the calendar will go toward supporting the events throughout the year!
