The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s hockey team has added 11 recruits to the roster for the 2020-21 season including a pair with local connections.

That includes a former star Battalion netminder and a forward from Callander in the form of Christian Propp and Caleb Rich.

Head coach Greg Puhalski has brought in one goalie, three defencemen and seven forwards to the purple and gold and is thrilled with the skill level and potential across the list of recruits.

“We are excited to welcome 11 great people to our program," said Puhalski in a release.

"Our team has added character student-athletes that will promote the values of our Hawk family! These individuals will be a large part of our program for years to come.”

Propp, a 6'2" 194 lb Milton product, has spent the past two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the North Bay Battalion, Soo Greyhounds and most recently the Kingston Frontenacs.

Since entering the OHL in 2015 Propp has amassed 162 games played with a 3.68 goals-against average and a .888 save percentage.

Caleb Rich has spent the past three seasons as a captain with the Amherst Ramblers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL).

The 6-1, 185 lbs. centre led the Ramblers in scoring this season with 27 goals and 51 assists in 51 games. Over his three seasons with Amherst Rich played 150 games, scoring 56 goals and recording 97 assists for 153 total points.

Rich, who started his junior career in the NOJHL with the French River Rapids, also played 28 games in 2016-17 with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL where he netted two assists in 28 games.

Propp and Rich join North Bay native Michael Silveri on the Hawks. In 19 games last season Silveri netted two goals and three assists for five points.
