Whether travelling by car, truck, bike or bus, residents of North Bay can name at least one roadway that they despise taking each day. CAA North & East Ontario (CAANEO) is once again encouraging residents of North Bay to make their concerns and frustrations for substandard infrastructure known by voting for Ontario’s Worst Road.

“CAANEO is continuing our quest to encourage the senior levels of government to provide long-term, sustainable funding to assist municipalities in improving and maintaining Ontario's transportation infrastructure,” said Korey Kennedy, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for CAANEO. “That is why we are encouraging all Ontario residents to cast their ballot for the road, bridge or highway that they deem to be Ontario's worst.”

Now in its 10th year, the campaign has seen success since its inception in 2003, with more than 90 per cent of the roadways nominated to the Worst Roads list having been repaired or scheduled to be repaired in the near future.

What constitutes a worst road is up to the voters – be it a bumpy side street, a main thoroughfare without a shoulder, an intersection with poorly timed traffic lights or a stretch of highway that is continuously congested.

“Appreciating how tremendously successful the Worst Roads campaign has been over the course of the past nine years, the Club is confident that this year’s campaign will once again ensure that more of Ontario's roadways are repaired and improved,” said Kennedy.

Road users can have their say by casting a ballot at www.worstroads.ca, where they can also view real-time results of the roads receiving the most votes across the province. Voting closes May 31, 2013. The annual ‘Top 10’ list of Ontario’s Worst Roads will be released in June once all the votes have been tabulated.

The 2013 Worst Roads campaign is sponsored by CAA North & East Ontario, CAA South Central Ontario, CAA Niagara, and the Ontario Road Builders’ Association.
