City of North Bay to Sue Conservation Authority Participants

A lawsuit has been launched by North Bay.

The Corporation of the City of North Bay has filed a lawsuit against former North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority Manager Bill Beckett, and the auditing firms of Grant Thornton and KPMG LLP.

The claim alleges that a previous Council was induced to enter into a guarantee of the debts of the Conservation Authority to the bank, based on incorrect information. As a result, the City has brought an action against those it believes responsible for providing the incorrect information. Through the action, the City expects to pass on any obligation under the guarantee to those responsible.

Complete information is contained in the Statement of Claim filed with the court. No further comment will be provided by the Mayor and Council, or any City representative while the process continues.
