Two thieves tried to steal property from a business in Trout Creek Sunday but the owner was alerted to their presence by a security system.

On January 29 at 12:42 p.m., Powassan OPP responded to the attempted theft and mischief, at a business on Carr Road.

Police spoke to the business owner who was alerted to a vehicle being on the property. The owner went to the scene and spoke to the driver who said they required some information. While the owner went to retrieve the requested information, the thief fled.

The owner then saw evidence of mischief and an attempt to steal property from the area.

The vehicle is an older white four-door GMC pickup truck with a soft black box cover and tinted windows. There is no visible model on the pickup truck. The licence plate on the front of the pickup read AW70335. The rear plate did not match but started with AZ.

"The driver appeared to be a white male, 30 to 40 years of age, with very little facial hair and a slim to medium build," said Constable Nathalie Muirhead. "The passenger appeared to be a white female with mid-length, light-coloured hair.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should immediately contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
