Business group elects new executive

The board of directors has been reduced from its historical 25 directors to 13, under the new bylaws.

Jake Lacourse will remain as President for of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce for another one year term after a board meeting last night to elect a new executive.

The rest of the executive is comprised of 1st Vice President Brad Gavan, 2nd Vice President Charles Elliott, Treasurer Paul Daigle, Past President John Strang, and Executive Director Patti Carr.

Lacourse is the assistant GM of the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park, Gavan is Director Foundation, Corporate, Community and Alumni Partnership at Canadore College,  Elliott will be joining the team of Edward Jones this year, after a long career as branch manager of TD and Daigle is a Senior Small Business Account Manager at RBC. 

Strang is co-owner and Vice President of U-Need-A-Cab. 

The rest of the board includes: 

  • Tanya Bédard, Economic Development Officer with the City of North Bay;
  • Gisele Cousineau, CEO of Yes Employment Services Inc.;
  • Anna Iati, consultant and owner of Iati Consulting;
  • Natasha Penn is the Director of Client Services with Karen Jones Consulting Services;
  • Peter Rooney is Vice President and Broker with Kennedy Insurance;
  • Irene Smit, Broker of Record for Bay Real Estate Inc.;
  • Kyle Thomas, representing the Young Professionals, is the Eastern Regional Manager for In.Business; and
  • Ed Valenti of the Davedi Club and also an agent with Century 21.
