“Prepare to be Inspired” was the promise made by The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound Inc. for their Salute to Small Business Event – and thanks to a new program launched, they did not disappoint. On Thursday evening, the Centre hosted David Chilton, author of the Wealthy Barber, who offered a talk on entrepreneurship. The Business Centre took this opportunity to officially launch a new, exciting program for Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts. Thanks to a $79,500 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Centre will be offering a mentorship program, linking entrepreneurs with established business owners.

Hon. Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing, was on hand to celebrate the great news.

“The Business Centre of Nipissing Parry Sound provides essential services to strengthen our local business community”, said Nipissing MPP Monique Smith. “This Ontario Trillium Foundation grant will help more entrepreneurs open businesses in Nipissing and equip them with the tools they need to succeed.”

The new program, made possible with OTF funds, will assist new business owners with overcoming the common hurdles faced in small business ownership. A mentorship relationship can help new business owners increase their general base of business knowledge, including increased comprehension of the financial aspects of a business through to making marketing and personnel decisions. Mentorship programs provide an opportunity for personalized coaching that addresses entrepreneurs’ specific questions, concerns and needs. Expert peer perspectives can be gained and the new entrepreneur can learn from the mentor’s past years of practical business experience.

“This program will provide valuable tools and resources to new business owners looking for additional guidance and support as they develop their business ventures”, stated Karen Jones, Manager of The Business Centre. “The Business Centre team is delighted to launch this program to the region and looks forward to celebrating in the success with the participating mentors and mentees.”
