Buildings and police cruiser damaged

On September 21, 2007 at approximately 1200 noon, Cst. Rice attended the YMCA in Chippewa Street West, North Bay in regards to a motor vehicle striking the YMCA building on at least three occasions. The vehicle had pulled into a laneway at 1680 Fraser Street, opposite the YMCA. Cst Rice observed a 1990 Blue Pontiac Sunbird travelling his direction at a high rate of speed toward his Police Vehicle and the YMCA, and then strikes the front of the Police vehicle causing approximately $2500.00 damage.

Damage to the YMCA consisted of 4 sections of fence to the children’s Day-care area in the amount of $1000.00. The children were inside the YMCA for lunch & naptime, at the time of the incident.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle had also hit the wheelchair ramp at the back of the Crisis Center at 1675 Cassells Street on the opposite end of the laneway from the YMCA, while it was reversing to make a third run at the YMCA.

The crisis center received approximately $2000.00 to the ramp, a picnic table and two bar-b-ques.

Cst. Rice exited his car and turned off the ignition of the suspect vehicle, took the driver of the car, and arrested her.

Teri Moonstar Nanibush, age 49-years, of Cassells Street North Bay, is charged with one count of Dangerous Driving and is being held in custody for a bail hearing this morning.
