Gold turned out to be Brian Heyd's colour of money.

Heyd, of North Bay, purchased an Instant Extravaganza ticket
because he liked the way it looked.

He likes it even better know since it turned out to be a million-dollar winner.

“I bought the ticket because the colour gold caught my attention!” Heyd said, joking with Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation staff in Toronto.

“I scratched it and matched $1 MILLION three times. I couldn’t believe it.... I didn’t have my glasses on so I found a magnifying glass to look at it closer!"

Heyd, 58, has been married to his wife, Pauline, for 36 years. The couple has two children and two grandchildren. Heyd is a self-employed businessman and will continue to work for a short period of time.

“I think this will set us up nicely for retirement,” he said. Heyd plans to pay off bills, invest, share with his family, and maybe take an Alaskan cruise – “somewhere down the road”.

The winning EXTRAVAGANZA ticket was purchased at Mike’s Mart on Lavery Street, in North Bay.
