Nipissing University has responded to the news that the faculty, which has been on strike since November 2nd, is wishing to return to the bargaining table.
Today the University stated “it is encouraged to see the faculty association letter to the Board of Governors formally requesting a return to the negotiating table.
“In accordance with our agreed upon process, we have initiated a discussion with the provincially appointed mediator regarding the potential resumption of negotiations.”
The main sticking points between the two sides include issues related to meaningful participation in governance, maintaining faculty complement, and fair financial compensation.
The news that faculty wish to meet again came out in a NUFA press release Monday afternoon.
“We are ready to move from our last position. We have some creative and innovative ways to resolve our differences, as long as we are at the table and talking,” said NUFA President Susan Srigley.
