A North Bay man faces a mischief charge after a bottle smashed through a city bus window.

Police say that shortly after midnight on Saturday, while he was walking by the parking garage of the Northgate Shopping Centre on Fisher Street, a man threw a bottle at the back door of a passing city bus, causing the glass window on the door to smash.

He then sat down on the bench.

Police were called and arrested the accused on site.

A 31-year old North Bay man is charged with:

  • One count of mischief under $5000; and
  • Two counts of breach of probation.
He was later released from custody with a first appearance court date of June 23rd.

Nobody was injured as a result of the bottle toss.

Meanwhile over the weekend, North Bay Police responded to 218 calls for service, and arrested and charged eight people with the following offences:

  • One person was charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and two counts of breach of probation;
  • One person was charged for breaches;
  • One person was charged with one count of theft under $5,000 (shoplifting);
  • Two people were charged with one count of theft under $5000 (shoplifting) and one count of breach of probation;
  • Two people were charged with public intoxication; and
  • One person was charged with domestic assault.
