Bonfield duo faces drug charges in early-morning traffic stop

The Nipissing West OPP arrested and charged two people with drug-related offences after a traffic stop.

On February 2, 2024, shortly before 3 a.m., OPP officers stopped a motor vehicle on Front Street in West Nipissing.

As a result of the investigation, two people were arrested. A search of the vehicle located stolen property and drugs suspected to be cannabis, oxycodone, methamphetamine and cocaine.

Jessica Garlick, 44, from Bonfield, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance
  • Possession of a schedule II substance
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Michael Sabourin, 43, from Bonfield, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance
  • Possession of a schedule II substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 7, 2024, in North Bay.
