Body Recovered On French River (update 10:24 a.m.)

At about 12:00 pm, Tuesday, August 29, 2006, the OPP divers recovered the body of Alexandre KAPRAN, 51, of Richmond Hill, Ontario approximately 200 meters from the shore.

The search for KAPRAN was initiated on Monday, August 28 following the report of an abandoned boat in the Loon’s Landing – French River area.

Noelville detachment members, OPP marine units, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and the OPP helicopter assisted in the search KAPRAN.

A post mortem has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 30th, 2006. Investigation is continuing.

Officers from the Noëlville OPP Detachment responded to a report of an abandoned boat in the Loon’s Landing – French River area on August 28th, 2006.

The missing boater is 52-year-old Alexandre KAPRAN of Richmond Hill Ontario. The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit from Orillia are also responding to assist in the search.
