Body recovered in Sturgeon River

West Nipissing Police are investigating the discovery of a body that police say was found by a resident near the shoreline of the Sturgeon River around 7 p.m. on Sunday night.

West Nipissing Police are investigating the discovery of a body that police say was found by a resident near the shoreline of the Sturgeon River around 7 p.m. on Sunday night. 

Officers arriving at the scene, confirmed that the finding was that of a human body.

The coroner’s office was contacted at that time.

Police removed the body from the waterway and took it to the West Nipissing General Hospital morgue.

The coroner has ordered a post mortem which will take place within a day or two.

Police are unable to confirm the individual’s identity at this time, however the McManaman family has been contacted and is being kept up to date on this investigation.
