The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) located the body of a man who went missing while swimming in Lake Nipissing on the afternoon of June 19, 2016.

The victim has been identified as Wanderlay BENTO (age 29) of Brazil.

The deceased was located at approximately 5:20 p.m. Monday evening.

Around 2:45 on Sunday afternoon OPP responded to a call about a missing swimmer and found out that the 29-year-old man had jumped off his boat about one kilometre from the shore of Callander Bay and due to powerful waves, the man went under water and never re-surfaced.

The missing man and his friend were believed to be staying at a Callander area cottage near Callander Bay.
