Boater gets 3-day suspension after falling overboard

On Friday, April 16, 2010, shortly before 4 p.m. police received a report of a male in the waters of Lake Nosbonsing, East Ferris Township, after being thrown overboard from his boat. 

North East Highway Safety Division and North Bay OPP attended the shore of Lake Nosbonsing just south of Astorville Road.  Two witnesses had been able to take a canoe out to the male and drag him into shore. 

The male operator of the boat, William G. MAFTURAK, 56, of Corbeil was attended to by paramedics.  The male was wearing a life jacket and suffered only mild hypothermia. The boat was still out on the lake spinning around as the motor was still running and in forward gear.  The vessel was removed from the water by OPP officers with North East SAVE unit. 

MAFTURAK was issued a 3-day suspension for having a blood alcohol content in the warn range.
