Desiree Giroux says she loves her new job, where her uniform is a pink bikini.

The 22-year-old North Bay native is one of a trio of girls working at Speedi Bikini Detail which opened last weekend on the corner of O’Brien and Airport Road.

Giroux says her first customer was an elderly couple that was so thrilled they sent their son over the next day.

“People keep saying they are astonished the idea hasn’t been thought of already and I can’t agree any more than that,” said Giroux while cleaning a car Tuesday afternoon.

“They (customers) love that it’s something fun and new.”

Car owners can take advantage of three different packages which include and “Exterior” for $49.00, the “In and Out” for $129.00 and the “Premium Full Service” for $249.00.

While customers wait for their detailed car cleaning, they can enjoy a cold pop and even a hot dog called the “Speedi Weeni” from their on-site barbecue.

Co-owner Anna Rhymer came up with the unique car wash idea. She hopes the bikini based marketing scheme will give the business some positive exposure across the city.

“We wanted a business with a little sizzle, sort of a marketing blitz,“ said Rhymer.

“We want to come out with a bang and shock North Bay and a really fun summer opportunity for some young girls. They can blast tunes, get a tan, get active and have some good team spirit.  I think this is a really fun way to do it.”

Rhymer adds that portions of the funds raised will go towards Breast Cancer Research.
