An expanded range of engaging student activities will be enjoyed by Canadore College students when the new academic year gets underway in September, under a new structure announced today.

A new student-operated organization – the Canadore Students’ Council (CSC) – will be in place to plan and deliver a better student experience through an enhanced roster of activities and to manage transparently the budget, funded by annual student activity fees.

“Canadore students will have access to a more vibrant college experience,” said George Burton, President of Canadore College. “The new council is being given a clear mandate to deliver a fuller student experience. It will do that with unprecedented transparency and accountability to the Canadore student body.”

Comprised of Canadore student representatives including those from the Panther Athletic Council and the Canadore Aboriginal Students Association (CASA), the new Canadore Students’ Council will assume all planning and execution of student activities formerly handled by the Canadore Students’ Representative Council (CSRC) such as Orientation Week. It will also host an AGM, cultural events, and job and career preparation workshops.

Also under the new arrangement announced today, The Wall student pub will now be operated by Chartwells, Canadore’s current hospitality services operator, with net profit going to the recognized student organizations - CSC and Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) - to fund further activities.
