Bid to Build – Live Auction for the Powassan Library

It's part of Powassan Library's campaign to raise funds to support the needs of the communities that the Library serves.

Powassan and District Union Public Library will host its third biennial Bid to Build – Live Auction on Saturday, October 15 to raise money for the upcoming Invest in Your Future with Powassan Library Expansion in 2017. This Auction is part of Powassan Library's campaign to raise funds to support the needs of the communities that the Library serves. Bidders will truly ‘Bid to Build’ this year leading into expansion plans that the Library's Property Building Committee have developed with the help of Nathan Jensen from Mitchell Architects.

The Live Auction will be held at the Golden Sunshine Club, located at 105 Edward St S, in Powassan. Viewings will be from 11 am to noon and the Live Auction starting promptly afterward. The viewing will be complimented by the tunes of Dave Dino White, who played at the Windsong Festival in Powassan. Pre-register for your bidding card for $2 or come early and register at the door. “I am blown away by all the community support surrounding the Library Expansion Plans and Auction,” Project Administration Intern, Chelsie Legree, said. “We have received some incredible donations like a load of gravel from Evan Hughes Excavation, 400 L of Furnace Oil from Jim Moore Petroleum Home Heat and 450 L of Propane from Moore Propane Limited.” Other items you will find at the Auction include something for everyone with desktop computers, art, local activities, car care and even a signed baseball by Aaron Loups from the Toronto Blue Jay’s.

People who are unable to attend the event can register for the Early Bird Auction by following instructions on the Library’s website. This will be open on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 9 am and the deadline will be Thursday, October 13 at noon. The Library asks for serious bidders only and that you must register for your bid to be counted. If you are the successful bidder please make the payment by cash or cheque at the Library by Saturday, October 22. Contact the Library for a registration package and more details.  

Stephen Morrin will once again be this year’s auctioneer. The bids will start off with the Early Bird Auction’s highest bids before opening to the Live Auction.
