Students and staff at Chippewa Secondary School were treated to an excellent performance of music and dance by a special musical ensemble.

The Belgium Grand Orchestre ‘Harmonie De La Ville de Charleroi and the Carolo King Ballet performed a selection of classical musical numbers and a variety of folk and classical dance numbers. The traveling group of 65 musicians and dancers performed at Chippewa Secondary School courtesy of the Daughters of Isabelle. Isabelle Corbeil coordinated the event which is part of the troupe’s cross Canada tour.

At the end of the performance, the troupe played a moving rendition of Oh Canada and gave the student body a tour book about Belgium, a flag and a souvenir from the town of Charleroi in Belgium.

The performance rounded out a very special day at Chippewa with a focus on Europe. The day began with an assembly on the Vimy Ridge battle and finished with a beautiful taste of European culture.
