Who can forget the dramatic scene that unfolded in New York City on January 15th as a pilot of a US Airways Airbus 320 lands the aircraft in the Hudson River after hitting a flock of birds.

Everyone aboard the US Airways Flight 1549 Bound for Charlotte, North Carolina, were safely evacuated after pilot Capt. Chesley B. Sullenberger III made the emergency landing in the Hudson River. In fact Sullenberger refused to leave the sinking vessel until he personally checked to make sure no one was left behind ... he is now being hailed a hero.

Following the spectacular rescue a giant crane and a barge were brought in to fish the partially submerged plane out of the river.

Faithful BayToday reader R.V. was in New York after the emergency landing and provides the following photos of the recovery efforts.
