Three excited finalists were rushing around Northgate Shopping Centre taking photos and selfies in hopes of winning a $1000 shopping spree at the local mall Friday afternoon.

Steph Raymond completed three challenges during the fun filled event, using her phone as a camera and won the $1000 prize.

Christine Cantin and Alyssa Laferriere both missed out on the big prize but will take home $100 Northgate Shopping Centre gift cards.

The Canadore College sponsored event took place at the Centre Court in front of Sears, but the competitors were rushing all over the mall to try and complete their challenges first.

Jordanna Grant, Northgate Shopping Centre’s Marketing Director says the three finalists were chosen through a Big Photo Contest sponsored by Canadore College, that ran from September to October.

She says connecting to the public through contests like this is important as they try to engage with their shoppers.

“It’s a really big deal for us, it is important to get these people here and to host these types of events just to keep the energy levels up and to develop those relationships even further with the student population here,” said Grant.

“This is kind of like a community hub here in North Bay so just trying to keep things fresh and dynamic and just draw people in.”
