Attempts to run down RIDE officers

On the 8th of Dec. shortly after 1 AM, officers of the North Bay Police Service were conducting a RIDE check on Lakeshore Dr.

At this time it is alleged that as they attempted to get a vehicle to pull over, it accelerated towards them and the officers managed to get out of the way to avoid being struck.

The vehicle then drove off towards the waterfront and ran out of the vehicle and escaped.

Later in the morning this same person attempted to call in his vehicle stolen.

Officers attended that person’s location and arrested the suspect.

Leo MARTEL 27 years old of Birch St. S. in Timmins is charged with Dangerous Driving and Fail to Stop for Police.
