Pedestrian-accident 2015

It's been a bad couple of months to be a pedestrian in North Bay, and three more were struck yesterday.

Police were called to McKeown Avenue at Cartier Plaza yesterday at 5:50 p.m. following a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians.

North Bay Police issued a provincial offence notice to the 63-year old female driver of an SUV for failing to yield to pedestrians.

While she was turning left from the McKeown Commons shopping area onto McKeown Avenue, the driver struck a male and a female, both teenagers, both from North Bay.

The two victims, who had the right of way, were crossing McKeown Avenue within the crosswalk from Cartier Plaza towards the McKeown Commons at the time.

Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries but both were transported to hospital by ambulance.

Then a short time later another pedestrian was struck on Algonquin at Lansdowne Avenue.

At 6:11 p.m. yesterday evening North Bay Police were sent to a second accident involving a pedestrian.

Following an investigation, police issued a provincial offence notice to the 47-year old male driver of a pickup truck for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Police say that while he was turning left from Norwood Avenue onto Algonquin Avenue, the driver struck a 39-year old male pedestrian who was crossing Algonquin from Lansdowne to Norwood within the crosswalk and with the right of way.

The pedestrian sustained only minor injuries an ambulance assistance was not needed.
