North Bay Police are investigating an Arson in the 700 Block of Front Street off of Morin and Third Avenue last night around 9 p.m.

Police say a person described as 6’1, slim, wearing a blue plaid shirt and hoodie walked up to the front yard of the Front Street house and doused a tree with an accelerant and lit the tree on fire before fleeing on foot towards Algonquin Avenue.

The Fire department extinguished the fire. The on-duty Captain suspected that the cause was arson and therefore alerted North Bay Police to investigate the incident as a possible crime.

North Bay Police are seeking any witnesses or information.

A witness told BayToday the accelerant was gasoline and the gas can was left at the scene. The witness says at one point the flames were "higher than the house and looked very intense."

"Luckily it did not spread thanks to the gentleman in the photo with the fire extinguisher."
