Arrest made after man stabs another in the back with a syringe

Police believe a man who was staying at the location, approached an adult male employee from behind and stabbed him in the back with a syringe

North Bay police are investigating a stabbing at the homeless shelter on Chippewa St, W. after an attack with a syringe this morning.

They say shortly before 9 p.m. yesterday police responded to the shelter on the 500 block of Chippewa Street West in North Bay. Police believe a man who was staying at the location, approached an adult male employee from behind and stabbed him in the back with a syringe.

The victim required medical attention for his injury. Mary Davis, CEO of NMHHSS.which operates the facility called the injuries "serious."

Police arrested the attacker who was also found to be in possession of 1.7 g of Fentanyl.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Peter Quenneville, 46, of North Bay who is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon;
  • Possession of a substance
  • Breach of probation

Quenneville remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
