Armed Robbery In South River

On Saturday the 14th of October 2006 at about 8:10 pm., an armed male entered the South River Kwik Way convenience store located at 1 Montreal Avenue. Once inside the store the suspect presented a handgun and demanded money from the two convenience store attendants. The suspect then fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.

Hwy 11 was closed for a short time while the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) contained a South River residence. At about 6:55 am. on Sunday the 15th of October 2006, OPP Tactical Response Unit (TRU) members arrested two male suspects at the residence without incident.

The ongoing investigation is under the direction of Cst Alexis Gysel of the Almaguin Highlands O.P.P.
