The Snowbirds and the SkyHawks Parachute Team will be in North Bay to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day 2019 at the waterfront on Wednesday, June 12 will again see a daytime and twilight show, with the Snowbirds and the SkyHawks taking centre stage.

The daytime show from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. will showcase the air demonstrations, weather permitting. There will also be various ground displays of army vehicles and equipment and musical entertainment by the 22 Wing Concert Band, the Canadian Military Wives Choirs – North Bay and the North Bay Pipes & Drums.

The evening show from 6 to 9 p.m. will offer another opportunity for military members, military families, and community members to take part in the activities. Weather permitting, there will be a twilight performance by the CF-18 Demonstration Team.

The theme is “To the Stars…” and recognizes the history of leadership in innovation and technology within the military and the North Bay community. It will also pay tribute to the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 95th Anniversary, and the 70th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Forces’ role with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The community can expect increased noise from jets beginning on June 10 and ending June 13 due to arriving, practicing and departing aircraft. There is a practice flight for the CF-18 Demonstration Team scheduled for June 11 at 8:30 p.m.
