Area wiz kidz set to compete

Grade 9 and 10 Students from the Near North District School Board are gearing up for the 4th annual Mathematics competition, sponsored by Nipissing University. The competition will be held Friday, December 12th from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in Room A246 (the small university cafeteria on the second floor of the A Wing at Nipissing University).

Over one hundred students will compete in small groups on four problem sets. Each problem set will be preceded by a short lesson. Students will not only require mathematical skill to do well but also collaboration and organizational skills.

The Near North District School Board is appreciative of the volunteer committee that prepares the lessons and problem sets. Volunteers also mark the problem sets on the day of the competition. Nipissing University kindly supplies snacks and lunch for the participants as well as a T-shirt and prizes. It promises to be a fun and enriching day.
