Forest Fire situation report for Monday August 13th

HIGHLIGHTS:
- 21 new; 36 active fires

- 461 fires; 7704.4 hectares to date since Apr.1st


DETAILS:

There have been 21 new fires in the last 24 hours.
Most of the new fires are lightning fires.

Parry Sound district had 1 fire. North Bay district had 3 new fires. Sudbury district had 2 fires. Wawa district had 3 fires. Sault Ste Marie district had 12 fires. All of the fires are less than 0.5 hectares in size and some of the new fires have since been called out. The FireRanger crews will be busy with small lightning caused fires today.

Residual clouds with isolated showers will stick around the Hudson Bay shoreline and the James Bay region. Otherwise mainly sunny skies are forecasted for the rest of the region. The winds will be light, occasionally moderate northwesterly with the temperatures slightly below normal.

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations. Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
