Area of confusion still remains on referendum

As we head towards October 10, it is becoming clear that more and more voters are becoming familiar with the basic parts of what is being proposed in the referendum.

Our NO MMP committee continues to be optimistic about the outcome as people realize that there are no answers to questions about how many Northern Ontario ridings will disappear with MMP and how huge will be the surviving ridings. Within minutes of the Advance Polls opening on Saturday, however, it became clear that one major area of confusion remains -the referendum ballot.

Many people expected that they would be voting YES or No on the referendum question. This is not the case. We are asked to mark our X for either for our current FIRST PAST the POST system or the alternative-MMP. Some people are not familiar with the term FIRST PAST the POST so we are emphasizing that this is what our committee urges you to vote for.
