The province is injecting more than $9.7 million into infrastructure in Northeastern Ontario hospitals including some in our area.

The North Bay Regional Health Centre will be receiving $217,234 while the West Nipissing General Hospital will receive $476,485 in funding which will be used for repairs and upgrades.

A total of 20 hospitals will be taking advantage of the funding.

“These repairs and upgrades are crucial to ensuring all patients get the help they need now and in the future,” stated Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care in a release today.

“By upgrading our hospitals’ infrastructure, we are helping Ontarians get the best health care close to home.”

Kate Fyfe, Interim CEO of the North East Local Health Integration Network, realizes Northerners rely on quality health care services.

“This additional funding will further help hospitals maintain a safe and healthy environment to meet the acute care needs of people living in Northeastern Ontario,” stated Fyfe in a release.

“This additional funding means hospitals can focus their other operational dollars on front line care. In many ways, it’s much more than new dollars, it’s helping to create a more comfortable and safe environment for patients.”
