Students of St. Alexander School celebrated Arbour Day Friday morning by planting a Red Oak with local tree guru Hal Falk in front of the school on Bloem Street.

Falk, who has helped shape the city’s trees for over 30 years, says the Red Oak is a sturdy tree that has a good survival rate.

Following the ceremony the school choir performed a special song for their guest Mayor Victor Fedeli, who attended the ceremony to support the efforts the students are taking to maintain a natural environment.

Arbour Day first started in Canada in the 1880’s and is now celebrated in over 50 countries.
