Laurier Twp - Almaguin Highlands OPP received a complaint on Friday June 18, 2010 at approximately 5pm of a break and enter in progress in Laurier Twp. The homeowners returned home Friday afternoon to find an intruder in their residence. The lone male fled the scene on foot. OPP attended the scene and was assisted by K9, the Emergency Response Team and the OPP helicopter but the suspect was not apprehended.
On Saturday June 19th Almaguin Highlands OPP with assistance from a local resident, K9 and the Emergency Response Team at 6:45am apprehended a young offender male in connection with the break and enter. The suspect was held in custody and was taken to Parry Sound Court on Monday June 21, 2010 for a bail hearing. The suspect is facing charges of break and enter; failure to comply with disposition; resist police and trespass at night contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
