The Alex Dufresne Gallery in Callander is hosting a closing Gala Reception for the current “Adventures in Art” exhibit with L’Arche North Bay and Community Living North Bay.

Saturday afternoon, October 26 will include light refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, and a draw for paid attendees for a piece of artwork from the show.

The “Adventures in Art” collaborative project began in April 2016 with a three-month trial run. Art classes were offered at Community Living and Karen Sherry was the first of many artists to teach the participants how to create artwork for enjoyment.

"The first session had thirty-five people and over the last two years, there were many people from the community who participated in the program," says Natasha Wiatr, Curator.

"They worked in a variety of mediums such as watercolour, paper mâché, photography, Jackson Pollock, ink and string art. The Adventures in Art exhibit has been the culmination of two years of these classes."

The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m., with opening remarks beginning at 1:15.Tickets for this semi-formal event are $50 each. They are available (cash only) at the Alex Dufresne Gallery located at 107 Lansdowne St. E. in Callander, or Community Living North Bay located at 741 Wallace Road in North Bay.
