Advanced polls for the November 13th municipal election opened to a steady stream of people Wednesday and Thursday wanting to cast their ballots, and the city clerk’s office expects much of the same today.

Over 1,100 people made their way to City Hall to vote over the past two days, and the advance polls will be open again today, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 4:30pm.

Terry Ringler from the clerk’s office said he expects the first couple of days to be very busy with folks wanting to vote before they head off for winter holidays, however, he says the advance polls will taper off.

Ringler says for those who have not received a voter registration card they can come during poll hours and verify they are on the list or they can simply be added. The Municipal Election runs on the honour system and aside from first time voters, photo ID is not required.

For the undecided voter they have one more opportunity to hear what the candidates have to say during the all-candidates debate. The debate tonight at the Legion Branch 23 on First Avenue is sponsored by CUPE. The event starts with a meet and greet at 6 o'clock, with the formal debate portion at 7pm.
