This year, OPSEAU local 635's Lyn Thompson won the top award.

Wayne Glibbery presented the award saying she supported her workplace and her members with a "keen sense of health and safety activism".

“All workers are entitled to work in environments where risk to their health and safety is properly controlled,” says Henri Giroux, President of North Bay and District labour Council.

The executive director of the Workers Health and Safety Centre, Dave Killham, was on hand as guest speaker to deliver the message of healthy and safe workplaces.

“It’s important to acknowledge and thank workers like Lyn for their good work efforts that often go beyond the call of duty,” said Giroux. “Anything we can do to reduce deaths, injury and job related illness is well worth doing.”
