The unique Abbey-Palooza fundraiser which takes place annually on Richard Road for a day in early May has raised some significant funds which will go towards Juvenile Diabetes research.

On May 6th, Abbey Mason led the fundraiser where her home is transformed into a shopping centre with a number of vendors selling products to help raise money for the cause.

After all the sales came in from the vendors and silent auctions, the tally was $5,905.

Abbey’s mother Amy Hopkins says the goal was $6,000.

“We are so close and I am confident we will reach that by walk day as we are still accepting donations, but the actual event raised $5,905,” said Amy about the event which was in its seventh year.

“That is truly incredible and the most we have ever raised!”

Abbey’s mother thanks friends and the community for supporting the cause.  Abbey was diagnosed with Diabetes when she was only two years old and has to take four injections per day to cope with the disease.

“I can't thank local businesses and the community enough for the support they provided this year, we couldn't do this without the amazing support from family and friends,” said Hopkins.
