It has been twenty-seven years since Terry Fox embarked on his Marathon of Hope across Canada, raising money and awareness for cancer research.

Widdifield Secondary School, along with its feeder schools W.J. Fricker and E.T. Carmichael, will be holding its third annual commemorative Walk, Run and Roll event, in honour of Terry Fox’s inspirational journey.

This event will take place the morning of Friday, September 28, 2007.

Widdifield students will begin the event and follow the designated route, to be joined by the students at W.J. Fricker and at E.T. Carmichael.

In all, more than 1500 students will participate.

The schedule for the morning is as follows:
9:00 Widdifield school assembly in the gym
9:30 students leave by front doors
10:00 arrival at W.J. Fricker
10:15 leave W.J. Fricker
10:45 arrival at E.T. Carmichael
11:00 leave E.T. Carmichael
11:30 lap of Widdifield’s track
11:45 ceremonies begin on the field
12:15 ceremonies end, students return to schools
