A Revolution In Health Care

Nipissing MPP Monique Smith, assisted by Minister of Natural Resources David Ramsay and Mayor Victor Fedeli officially opened the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) headquarters at 555 Oak Street East, today.

Smith said the opening of the LHIN was a long time coming, and signals an exciting change to how health care is delivered in North East Ontario.

She also added that with the LHIN the city will realize 21 new jobs by September.

Ramsay said Smith's work to get the LHIN headquartered in North Bay was a ‘Tour de Force’.

Ramsay also said the opening of LHIN marks a revolution in Health Care as the network allows front-line workers and authorities in the community to identify local needs and better manage health care at the local level throughout the region, something that can’t be done from an office in Kingston.

"They are going to be able to build a system that really reflects the needs of Northerners."

Mayor Victor Fedeli agreed with Ramsay, but was honest in saying he was excited with what 21 new positions means to North Bay.

"To me, this is a home run. 21 new jobs in North Bay! This would be like a 2000 job hit in the GTA.’

“And Monique, I'm thrilled you brought this home," says Fedeli.
